by Agresti, Franklin, Klingenberg
An introductory statistics textbook for a one or two-semester course.
New mobile apps for exploring and working with a variety of distributions, exploring data and carrying out inference with your own data, right on your phone.
Online interactive apps for illustrating & learning statistics. Explore statistical concepts (Coverage, Central Limit Theorem) or carry out data analysis (descriptive & inferential) right in your browser.
Download datasets mentioned in examples, exercises & activities. Organized by book chapter. Also, find the link to the General Social Survey.
Access the annotated R code from the end of chapter material. Also, find R code to replicate the analysis done in chapter examples, using base R or the tidyverse.
List of typos in exercises and the main text. We apologize for these! (Let us know if you find others!)
Bernhard Klingenberg is a Professor of Statistics at Williams College where he teaches courses ranging from Introductory Statistics for the Social Sciences to Mathematical Statistics and his favorite subject, Categorical Data Analysis. Categorical Data Analysis is also Bernhard's major research interest. He published articles in journals such as Biometrics (on analyzing multivariate binary data), Statistics in Medicine (on confidence intervals for the risk ratio and others), Computational Statistics & Data Analysis (on binary time series) or the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B: Applied Statistics (on analyzing adverse events data from drugs). His method to construct a confidence interval for the difference of proportion in stratified 2x2 contingency tables has been implemented in SAS software's proc freq.
