Chapter 3

Exercise 3.8, part e (page 123)

The question, as currently worded, doesn't make much sense. Please use the following wording for part e:
Is it true that the proportion of jurors delivering a guilty verdict is about 6% higher for those jurors who watched the recording with the strong testimony? Explain.

Chapter 6

Exercise 3.59 (page 326)

Standard deviation for best out of seven The table below shows the probability distribution for the number of games played in a best of seven series when a team has a 50% (taken from Example 2) or 99% chance of winning a game.

Chapter 10

Solutions to Exercise 10.33 (from page 531)

The solutions to Exercise 10.33 in the back of the book are wrong. The standard error in part a should be 1.78 (not 0.701) and the confidence interval should be (2.36, 9.44). With 95% confidence, we estimate that the mean body dissatisfaction assessment score is between 2.4 and 9.4 points higher for lean sport athletes compared to non-lean sport athletes.

Section on Small Sample Inference (page 514)

The referenced exercise should be 10.125 and not 10.126.

Chapter 12

Exercise 12.58 on page 675:

The first sentence should read: "Refer to the previous exercise, for which predicted population growth was 13.39% per decade."
